Why is insurance in Texas so expensive?

We have often seen rate increases over the years.  But we have never seen the amount of increases we have seen in the past few years.

Auto and Home insurance has gotten so expensive.  Insurance companies have filed for even more rate and are waiting for the Texas Department of Insurance to approve.  Many carriers have stopped or limited new policies being written, made it harder to obtain insurance and decreased ideal payment plans for customers.  

They tell us their trade combined ratio has increased due to inflation.  More expensive replacement parts or materials and increased labor costs are to blame.

We are recommending that you be very careful if you leave the insurance you have.  You may not be able to get it back and be foreced to sign up for something more expensive.
